Balsatræ
Balsa er især blevet anvendt i skibsdæk, men ses også i skrog. Balsa er et naturmateriale og som følge heraf kan vægten ikke angives præcist, men den ligger på ca. 130 kg/m3. Leveres i rudeskårede plader. Skåret af endetræ, så fibre står lodret, hvilket giver forholdsvis stor styrke.

Balsa has especially been used on ships’ decks, but can also be found on hulls. Balsa is a natural material and, as a result, the weight cannot be precisely given, but it is around 130 Kg/m3. Supplied in square cut sheets. Cut at the end grain, so that the fibre is vertical, providing relatively high strength.
